A lawyer defending Chinmoy Krishna Das Brahmachari,  the Hindu priest arrested and accused of sedition in Bangladesh, has been attacked, the ISKCON (International Society for Krishna Consciousness) has said. A court in Bangladesh is expected to hear the case on December 3. 

In a post on X, Radharaman Das, the spokesperson for ISKCON, said, "Please pray for Advocate Ramen Roy. His only 'fault' was defending Chinmoy Krishna Prabhu in court. Islamists ransacked his home and brutally attacked him, leaving him in the ICU, fighting for his life".

Many lawyers in Bangladesh, however, have denied any such event.

Last month too, there were claims on social media and a few news outlets that a lawyer defending Chinmoy Krishna Das was killed. But investigations revealed that the murdered lawyer, Saiful Islam, was an assistant public prosecutor and he was not defending Chinmoy Das.

Chinmoy Krishna Das Brahmachari, a prominent former leader of the International Society for Krishna Consciousness (ISKCON) in Bangladesh, was arrested in Dhaka last month after protests by the Hindu community in Rangpur, demanding stronger legal protections for minority groups. He has been accused of sedition and was denied bail by a Dhaka court on Tuesday.

Bangladesh has seen widespread political violence and protests over minority rights since the ouster of former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.

Amid attacks on minority Hindus in the neighbouring coutry, Radharaman Das had earlier posted on X that two disciples of Chinmoy Krishna Das have gone missing in Chattogram after a second Hindu monk, Shyam Das Prabhu, was arrested.

India has condemned the arrest and urged Bangladeshi authorities to ensure the safety and security of Hindus and other minorities. 

The arrest has also been strongly criticised by Indian religious leaders and members of the civil society.

Protest rallies have been held in West Bengal and several other staes that share border with Bangladesh.

In Tripura, the criticism has taken the form of boycott. Hotels and restaurants have decided not to accept bookings from tourists from Bangladesh, the top association of the travel sector has said.

Earlier today, more than 50 protesters allegedly entered the premises of the Bangladeshi mission in Tripura capital Agartala, leading to panic among the officials and staff at the complex. India has described the incident as "deeply regrettable".

A 27-year-old woman in the US who killed and ate a cat has been sentenced to one year in jail after a furious judge slammed her for the stomach-turning act. According to the New York Post, Allexis Ferrell committed the gruesome act in August outside her home in Ohio. A bodycam footage from police officers who reached her house showed the 27-year-old on all fours outdoors eating the cat as horrified neighbours looked on. "What did you do? Why did you kill the cat?" a police officer is heard asking the woman in the clip. &nbsp;
On Monday, Stark Country Common Pleas Judge Frank Forchione called Ferrell a national embarrassment. "You've embarrassed this county. You've embarrassed this nation. More importantly, you've embarrassed yourself," the judge said, per the <a class="sp_lnk2" href="https://nypost.com/2024/12/02/us-news/disgusted-judge-puts-away-woman-who-ate-cat-in-stomach-turning-video-youve-embarrassed-this-nation/" rel="noindex,nofollow">outlet</a>.&nbsp;
"To me, you present quite a danger to our community. This is repulsive to me. I mean, that anyone would do this to an animal. And an animal's like a child. I don't know if you understand that or not. I can't express the disappointment, shock, disgust that this crime has brought to me. I don't know what could prompt anyone to want to eat a cat," Mr Forchione continued.&nbsp;
The judge sentenced Ferrell to one year in jail after she pleaded guilty to a felony charge of animal cruelty. According to the Post, her one-year sentence will be added to a separate 18-month sentence she is facing for two previous crimes including a theft in 201 and a child endangerment case from last year.&nbsp;
Stark County Prosecutor Chelsea Small called the cat incident disturbing. "It's one of the most disturbing cases that I've seen as a prosecutor," she said.&nbsp;

Ferrell's attorney Stephen Kandel, however, said that that shocking video makes it clear that the 27-year-old "has an issue with drugs and alcohol, through her evaluation, through her past history". He added that he has arranged for his client to undergo inpatient treatment after her release.
Notably, Ferrell's case became a part of online presidential campaign chatter after Donald Trump and JD Vance claimed that Haitian immigrants in Springfield were eating local pets. Later, officials clarified that Ferrell is not an immigrant and her case is not tied to that claim. She was born in Ohio and graduated from Canton McKinley High School in 2015.

Regarding the North Korean troops set to join the Russian side, the soldiers BBC spoke with seemed to have no contact with. "I haven't seen or heard anything about Koreans, alive or dead," Andriy said. 

The soldiers have been told to capture at least one North Korean soldier with documents. Apparently, there are rewards such as drones and leaves for anyone who successfully captures a North Korean soldier.

Ukrainian soldiers will hold out at Kursk for "as long as it is feasible from the military point of view", since it is reaping military and political rewards for them and also since the situation in Kursk and heavy losses for Russia "annoys Putin".

A woman passed racist comments at a celebrated wedding photographer and his Indian-American family while they were in a shuttle bus of United Airlines at the Los Angeles Airport last week.
<a class="sp_lnk2" href="https://www.instagram.com/ptaufiqphotography/" target="_blank" rel="noindex,nofollow noopener">Pervez Taufiq</a> was accompanied by his wife and their three children when they arrived in Los Angeles from Cancun. The woman, who was on the same flight as Mr Taufiq's family, boarded the same bus to the terminal.
"Mortified, we just went through this. This lady was harassing our son on the flight, unbeknownst to us, asking him if he was Indian and making comments. When we landed in LA and got on the transfer bus, she told our son to 'shut up', I told her she didn't have a right to speak to my son that way and her husband got in my face trying to tell me to not speak to his wife," Mr Taufiq wrote on Instagram and shared a video of the entire incident.
In the video, the photographer expressed his outrage over the incident, saying his "blood is boiling right now".
"I honestly can't even believe that something like this is a real thing. We were just having an altercation with this lady who was giving us a really hard time telling the kids to 'Shut Up', I lost it and said, you know, you don't have a right to talk to my kids like that."
The situation escalated after the woman verbally attacked him and said, "Your family is from India, you have no respect, you have no rules, you think you can push everyone, push, push, push... That's what you think you are. You guys are f*****g crazy."
In response, Mr Taufiq asked if she wanted him to have "more curry". To this, she said, "I am going to record your f******g tandoori a**... your tandoori stinky a**."
As Mr Taufiq asked the security personnel to remove her, she interrupted him and said, "He does not care that I am a racist, you are racist towards me. I am American."
"So are we," he replied to her.
She reacted, "You are not American... Not originally no, you are from...India."
Mr Taufiq insisted he was born in America.
In his post, Mr Taufiq thanked the airline and said the lady was taken "off the bus ultimately and a few fellow passengers stood up for us."
"Blown away these types of people still exist," he added.
Speaking with <a href="https://nypost.com/2024/12/02/us-news/wedding-photographer-and-family-shocked-by-sickening-insults-from-fellow-united-passenger/" target="_blank" rel="nofollow,noindex noopener">The New York Post</a>, Mr Taufiq, who grew up in Boston, said he first interacted with her during the flight.
Mr Taufiq believed the woman was "clearly" drunk at the time of the incident.
He and his wife work as photographers at events, including over 200 weddings per year, worldwide.

पाकिस्तान की सुप्रीम कोर्ट के 2 सीनियर जजों ने गुरुवार (13 नवंबर) को 27वें संवैधानिक संशोधन के विरोध में इस्तीफा दे दिया. उनका आरोप है कि ये संशोधन पाकिस्तान के संविधान को कमजोर करता है और ज्यूडिशियरी की आजादी को खत्म करने वाला है. बता दें कि पाकिस्तान के राष्ट्रपति आसिफ अली जरदारी के विवादास्पद 27वें संविधान संशोधन को मंजूरी दिए जाने के महज कुछ ही घंटों बाद जस्टिस मंसूर अली शाह और अतहर मिनल्लाह ने अपने पदों से इस्तीफा दे दिया.
ये संशोधन पाकिस्तानी संसद के दोनों सदनों द्वारा पारित होने के बाद कानून बनाने की दिशा में अंतिम कदम था. संशोधित कानून के तहत पाकिस्तान में एक संघीय संवैधानिक अदालत (Federal Constitutional Court) का गठन होगा, जो संवैधानिक मामलों की सुनवाई करेगी. मौजूदा सुप्रीम कोर्ट केवल सिविल और आपराधिक मामलों तक सीमित रहेगा.&nbsp;
मंसूर अली शाह ने अपने त्याग पत्र में क्या लिखा जस्टिस मंसूर अली शाह ने अपने त्याग पत्र में लिखा कि यह संशोधन पाकिस्तान के संविधान पर गंभीर हमला है. यह सुप्रीम कोर्ट की शक्तियों को समाप्त करता है. न्यायपालिका को कार्यपालिका के अधीन लाता है और संवैधानिक लोकतंत्र की जड़ों पर प्रहार करता है. देश के सर्वोच्च न्यायालय की एकता को खंडित करके इस संशोधन ने न्यायिक स्वतंत्रता और अखंडता को पंगु बना दिया है और देश को दशकों पीछे धकेल दिया है.. संवैधानिक व्यवस्था का यह विध्वंस बहुत समय तक ऐसे ही नहीं रहने वाला और समय के साथ इसे उलट दिया जाएगा, लेकिन तब तक यह इस संस्था को गहरे घाव दे जाएगा.&nbsp;
उन्होंने कहा कि अपने पद पर बने रहना न केवल एक संवैधानिक गलती को चुपचाप स्वीकार करने के समान होगा, बल्कि इसका मतलब एक ऐसी अदालत में बैठे रहना भी होगा जिसकी संवैधानिक आवाज को दबा दिया गया है. ऐसे कमजोर न्यायालय में सेवा करते हुए मैं संविधान की रक्षा नहीं कर सकता.&nbsp;
जस्टिस मिनल्लाह ने अपने इस्तीफे की क्या वजह बताई जस्टिस मिनल्लाह ने अपने त्याग पत्र में लिखा कि 27वें संशोधन के पारित होने से पहले मैंने पाकिस्तान के मुख्य न्यायाधीश को पत्र लिखकर इस बात पर चिंता व्यक्त की थी कि इसके प्रस्तावित प्रावधान हमारी संवैधानिक व्यवस्था के लिए क्या मायने रखते हैं. उनकी चुप्पी के बीच अब वे आशंकाएं सच साबित हो गई हैं. जिस संविधान की रक्षा करने की मैंने शपथ ली थी, वह अब नहीं रहा. इसकी स्मृति पर इससे बड़ा कोई हमला नहीं हो सकता कि 27वें संविधान संशोधन की नींव, उस संविधान के कब्र पर टिकी है, जिसे बनाए रखने की मैंने शपथ ली थी. अब वह संविधान नहीं रहा. नई व्यवस्था में मेरे लिए न्यायाधीश की पोशाक को धारण करना अब विश्वासघात का प्रतीक बन गया है इसलिए मैं इस पद पर नहीं बना रह सकता.
27वें संविधान संशोधन से क्या बदलाव होगा सेना प्रमुख और चीफ ऑफ डिफेंस फोर्स की नियुक्ति राष्ट्रपति प्रधानमंत्री की सलाह पर करेंगे. चेयरमैन ज्वाइंट चीफ्स ऑफ स्टाफ कमेटी का पद 27 नवंबर 2025 को समाप्त हो जाएगा. नेशनल स्ट्रैटेजिक कमांड का प्रमुख पाकिस्तान की थल सेना से होगा. फील्ड मार्शल, मार्शल ऑफ एयर फोर्स, एडमिरल ऑफ द फ्लीट जैसे पद जीवनभर के लिए होंगे. विशेषज्ञों का कहना है कि यह संशोधन न्यायपालिका की स्वतंत्रता पर सबसे बड़ा हमला है.
